WA:Man critical after police pursuit crash

PERTH, April 14 AAP - A 19-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital following
a car crash during a police pursuit in Perth.

Police said that at about 4am (WST) on Thursday a stolen Ford Falcon crashed at high
speed through a brick wall at a property in Mirrabooka in the city's inner north as it
was pursued by a traffic enforcement car.

The 19-year-old driver had to be cut from the vehicle and is in a critical condition
with head injuries in Royal Perth Hospital, police said.

His 15-year-old male passenger received lesser injuries and is in a stable condition
in the same hospital.

A police spokesman said the pursuing vehicle was some way behind the Ford and the officers
did not see the crash, after chasing the car for a speeding infringement for about three
minutes.

He said the WA Police Internal Affairs Unit would be investigating the incident.

Police closed part of Alexander Drive in Mirrabooka as the crash was investigated.
