NSW: First female governor for NSW
New South Wales first female state governor is psychiatry professor Dr MARIE BASHIR.
Premier BOB CARR made the announcement saying Dr BASHIR will replace GORDON SAMUELS
who is due to retire after his four years of service in March.
She is the third female state governor to be appointed in any Australian state.
Dr BASHIR is also the first person of Lebanese descent to be appointed to be Governor of NSW.
She's a clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Department of Psychological Medicine
at the University of Sydney.
Dr BASHIR Is married to Sir NICHOLAS SHEHADIE who is the head of the Sydney Cricket
Ground Trust and they have three children.
